I made this cake as directed - used jar of morello cherries that I drained and followed directions. They did not sink to bottom of cake as the recipe said wondering why. Thanks.

However, I'd say you're lucky. I'd prefer them at the top. Bottom line is that the batter was denser than the cherries you used. If you want them on the bottom next time, simply place them there before adding the cake batter. Cheers, Joe.

Followed the recipe to the letter, except that I substituted blackberries for the cherries. (That's what looked good at the market.) Delicious! Not too sweet and the wine gave it a hint of something intriguing in the background.

I made this dessert last Sunday, using a sauvignon blanc for the wine component. I served it, as suggested, with cherry compote and vanilla ice cream. There were no leftovers. That was a first. I'll definitely make this again. Thanks

What can be used instead of dry white wine? Grape juice is too sweet.

Hi Terry and thanks for your question. You might consider trying some White Wine Vinegar as a substitute for the White Wine in this recipe - I've used this before and added a touch more lemon. I look forward to hearing your thoughts...all the best and thanks for learning with Rouxbe. Chef Kirk
